Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology (Sathyabama University) was established on behalf Jeppiaar Educational trust to promote technical education in the state of Tamil Nadu. At the beginning the institute was known by the name of Sathyabama Engineering College.
Since its inception the institute has been synonymous with academic excellence, and student discipline. This has been made possible by close supervision, excellent coaching and honing of talents among bright students who are expected to notch the university’s top honors, besides taking care of the academically backward students of the university.
Owing to its tack record in teaching and research, Sathyabama Engineering College, was granted Deemed University status by University Grants Commission (UGC) on 16th July 2001. Since then the institute is known by the name of Sathyabama University.
Moreover, Sathyabama Engineering College has been accredited with “B++” grade by the National Board of Accreditation, which is the highest by any Deemed University in the State of Tamil Nadu besides being accredited by the institution of engineers from Section A and B and has ISO 9001:2000 certification.
The University spreads over an area of 350 acres on the IT Highway of Chennai city. The institute has well equipped infrastructure facilitates that include more than 125 class rooms, laboratories, drawing halls, work shops, central and departmental libraries, hostels, audio visual halls, spacious dining halls and sports ground etc.
